Weather, whether or not!

I am in awe of weather. I love the clouds and try to capture their unique shapes on camera. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. I look out my windows, I'm sure, at least once an hour. This includes at night too.

I live on the fourth floor so it helps that I have this perspective. I've been on the fifth floor of this building and the seventh and eighth floors. I've seen their perspective. I like mine just fine.

The above photo was taken October 2011, the clouds were amazing!

February 2012 Winter Sunset

Night Sky July 2012

August 2012 These were just marching across the sky, it was a beautiful day.

The sky was as you see it here. Flat gray with winter trees. This is my favorite view and I always take several pictures looking out my window. December 2012.

This is another January 2013 sky. The colors kept changing so quickly! This is probably my favorite.

Shooting through a window is not the best option but most times it is the only option.
This is okay, but it was so much better to actually see it forming and billowing.

Night Moves. This was much more dramatic in person!

The one and only time (in almost five years) that I remember fog settling in and around the Oregon District.
It is usually all around us. This was a rather heavy fog every where that day.

October 2013 Just before the sun was setting.

October 2013 the sun was almost set here.

It changes so fast when I want to capture it.
November 2013

My pictures really don't do justice to what I saw.

November 2013 It was so beautiful to see ~

Last night was pretty scary. I kept close watch on the weather on two sites especially after Indiana was hit so hard and so unexpected! My friend Becky called me several times to let me know what the weather was saying. Believe me, what the weather says on TV and what I'm watching online was almost completely different.

Still, I dug out my flashlight, made sure my cell phones were charged and while I rode out the storm, made a list of emergency things I DON'T have. I called my brother on his cell as his area was about to get hit very hard. I got his voice mail. I envisioned him watching the game while Lisa was pacing the floor :) I called him, mind you, while I'm sitting in front of my windows!

I called my sister and had to leave a message with her. They have no basement. She called me back pretty quick. She was nonplussed almost, saying "I really wasn't paying attention until Eric kept saying 'I hope we don't lose power'" They were prepared though.

I prayed most of the night and watched the radar closely. We were going to get heavy winds and rain but as far as I could see that would be it. Even so, after seeing what happened to Indiana, I paid attention to everything.

I was so grateful we were spared. Even where my brother lived was spared. He (he did call me back) said they were fine.

I know many prayers were being said.

Here are the only pictures I took from last night. After awhile, I decided to stay away from the windows.

The day after the storm. Look how dry the pavement is. The wind is still blowing and it's a bit cooler now.
